The only show reels I have at the moment mainly comprise of College Briefs with a little of my own work thrown in and DW3Dmaya branding thrown in
3RD Year Showreel
2ND Year Showreel
this one was the Showreel put together in the 2nd year I tried to find a way to draw all the current 3D work to that point together
this was my very first showreel put together in the 1st year of College I uploaded it strait to my blog at the time If I can find the better resolution version i'll get that version uploaded this was just to show what we had done and our inspirations and where we wanted to be

3D Buzz Lamborghini murcielago Tutorial
I 've in the past built A Mercedes McLaren SLR as part of a Brief but wanted to learn a better way of Modeling cars and doing car interiors
I came across an advanced modeling DVD Course By 3D Buzz and wanted to Build the Lamborghini while I was still at Collage so my 1st project was this one
Video attached is the opening Video to the tutorial and the finished result of what my hard work will look like!

Screen Cap of the scene set-up using drawn Images I was a bit apprehensive because after building the McLaren one of the Learning curves was that I was using inaccurate reference images and it resulted in 6 Hours Extra work re-aligning but in industry this is how it is so if anyone else doing this tutorial try not to cheat and get dead accurate references it will all work out in the end!
One of the first lot of tutorials is about getting a wire frame network together to give you a quick but fairly accurate representation of what the basic shape of the Lamborghini will turn into.
A more advanced look of the wire frame network just have the rear to build out now.
Screen Capture of the completed wire frame network duplicated over to give a better idea of scale
Using the curve network created it makes it 10x easier to create your shapes using create polygon and snapping to curves
using the polly smoothing (3 key Maya Shortcut) and Crease Edge Tool to see how my car panels are shaping up
Coming along nicely and just working on the wheel arch
the front end looking good coming along well

the front end looking good coming along well
starting to mold out the shape of the door and windscreen
Roof and side air intake now now done and Polly smoothed and I'm happy with the progression so far

moving around to the back of the car

More of the rear end now complete and Polly Smoothed

Rear quarter window roughed out this is a lot harder than it looked but I think we got there in the end!
Made a start on the rear bumper
Jumping on a few stages the rear license plate, tail lights, engine slats, and Engine intake scoops modeled out.

The outer shell is very nearly finished in it's roughed out stage looking forward to being able to see some good renders

the car has really come to life now and where the edge crease tool was used to give an instant but quick look edge beveling is now put into place it makes things look a lot sharper and gives you more control of the creases in your model with less conflicts and shadowing
Giving Polly edge cleaning up a break and modeled out the Headlight and make it look more like a Lamborghini

this is where I deviated from the tutorial a little after looking at the Video tutorial there was something that just didn't look right about the wing mirror in the Tutorial, I went online and sourced lots more Photo Reference's in as higher resolution as possible and discovered that there were lots of differences between the Video version and what was actually there so skipped this stage of the tutorial and went about creating this part as close to how I thought the Wing Mirror should be
to build the wheel out you need to establish how many parts you can break a wheel into the smaller the easier the can be duplicated across to create 1 spoke merge those two half's and duplicate those round 5 times to create our wheel face
this is what the Wheel face looks when complete also wheel bolts were added
this is as far as the tutorial takes you but leaves a large gap behind the center of the wheel I know from experience that car's break discs are held in place using a bell housing so found images of this on Ebay to finish this part of the model up

this is my finished variation with completed bell housing for the brake disc
and a more convincing tire my tire was taught to me by a tutor at my collage which involves getting a good top view of a tread pattern breaking it down into as small as possible duplicating a whole bunch of times using the bend tool to make your duplicated out tread patten into a ring merging the verts together and then extruding the edges in to create the sidewall of the tire then just UV map an image of a real tire along with some bump mapping and you have a more realistic looking tire
If anyone would like me to do this as a proper tutorial please just drop me a message!

also something else not covered in the tutorial is that the rear wheel on the murcielago is larger and the wheels center dips in quite a lot further than the wheel on the front so took it upon myself to duplicate the front wheel and modify it to suit a better representation
this I think was one of the best pictures showing the differences

Continuing on with the beveling and tidying as you can see the model looks a lot tidier,
after downloading loads more Reference images I think the lower side air intake sinks back some what further and made the changes there is also a Grille that sits at the back of the Intake I intend to model
out at some point too
in this picture the light just catches the Lower side air intake to show you that there is a grille in there and how far in it goes

Next was to create the Lamborghini Text in the Tutorial it does provide you with the wire frame font to create the badge for the rear of the car but I decided to download and install my own which can be downloaded for free on some sites the font is called La Macchina Regular
The outer Shell is just about modeled out wheels have been added to the scene along with a few additional tweaks of my own and a bit of UV Mapping
there will be a whole interior built inside this car along with Engine etc but for now here are the door catches
just a quick render with the door up only just started on the interior though
I did a few test renders after quickly adding a bit of car paint to check the light bounces off the car the way it should that and I just wanted to see how it looked rendered!
with a bit of sprucing up on Photoshop
Now starting on the interior Modeling
Carrying on with the interior I spent most of today working on it after 12 hours work I'm calling it a day!
I came back the do the lower side air intake grille
at the moment it's just blacked out behind the grill mesh but I reserve the right to model out the rear of the grille and make it a PNG file enabling you to see some of the model behind the Grille
Continuing along a little more, now completing the center section and stereo

Same amount of work as above just taken from the outside of the car to see how things are continuing to shape up
I completed the Seats today so the interior should be done in a day or so when I can fit the time in
I noticed the while looking at reference images of the char that parts of my door catch didn't quite seem wide enough so these were tweaked too as well as adding a little extra detail to them
And here A nice render from the front going with the 40th Anniversary edition Colour which does suit it quite well
the Interior is just about modeled out now maybe come back for some Extra Tweaks,
i've made a start on the door cards now but nothing really worth showing just yet
and also i've textured and mapped some half convincing tail lights
the door cards have been finished and a start on the Engine has been made
the Basic Engine is now done I may go into detail further down the line we shall see
I've just made the car pain transparent to give you a better Idea of what your looking at
